United Way's Prescription Drug Discount Card

With the ever-increasing costs of prescription medications and the growing need to offer help to those without prescription coverage, United Way of St. Joseph County is implementing a Prescription Drug Discount Card. We are making this card available at some of our partner agencies and other participating organizations throughout St. Joseph County .

The card is easy to use and will save an average of 20% on prescription drugs. Anyone without coverage is eligible and many of our local pharmacies are participating in the program.

How it Works

This community service program sponsored by Membership Services Corporation and Vertrue Incorporated enables you to receive discounted pricing on prescription drugs. This is not insurance. Rather, it is a program that offers immediate discounts on prescription drugs at participating pharmacies.

Simply present your card with each prescription from your doctor to the participating pharmacy at the time of purchase to receive your discounts. If you need to transfer a prescription, bring your empty prescription bottle or label with you to the pharmacy.

Save an average of 20% off the pharmacy's usual and customary retail price of prescription drugs, with the highest savings on generic drugs.

Your cost for medication will be the discount price offered through this program, or the pharmacy's usual and customary retail price, whichever is lower. This means you are assured the lowest price in that store, at the time you purchase the medication. YOU DO NOT NEED THIS CARD IF YOU ALREADY USE A PRESCRIPTION CARD OF ANY KIND WHEN YOU GO TO THE PHARMACY.

IT'S FREE: There is no cost to you for this donated card and you can start saving money on your prescription drugs immediately!

IT'S EASY: Simply present your card and prescription to a participating pharmacy to obtain the discounted price. You always receive the lower of the discounted price or pharmacy's retail price.

NO RESTRICTIONS: Use your card as often as you need, for any prescription, for everyone in your family.

THIS IS NOT HEALTH INSURANCE. Discounts are available only at participating pharmacies.

You can find out more about how the card works and participating pharmacies by calling 2-1-1, United Way 's Information and Referral System or go to www.familywize.com.
