Cost Benefits
Professional Energy Advisors will come to your home to analyze your home’s energy inefficiencies. They will help you produce long-term, cost effective energy savings by recommending appropriate efficiency measures that will raise your home’s performance, lower energy bills, and improve in-home air quality.
Energy Advisors will also install several low-cost energy saving measures including:
- Replacing traditional incandescent bulbs with
- efficient CFLs (limit 9)
- Install low-flow faucet aerators (limit 3)
- Install low-flow shower heads (limit 2)
- Water heater insulation wrap (on electric heaters only)
Community Benefits
United Way of St. Joseph County will receive $25 for EVERY energy audit performed on its behalf. All proceeds will go to help fund United Way's 2-1-1 Information & Referral Call Center.
About Team HEAT (Home Energy Assistance Team)
A UWSJC initiative, Team HEAT helps low-income households meet their energy needs through partnerships with concerned citizens, energy companies and other organizations. Clients of Team (HEAT) are required to pay $40 toward their utility bill and are then matched $40 when electric bills are traditionally highest. Clients are also required to take a free basic budgeting class, participate in an assessment analyzing 12 life areas that drive self sufficiency, and work with a case coordinator for 4 months on measurable goals to improve their circumstances.
