United Way of St. Joseph County and 2-1-1 continue to distribute discount prescription cards for those in need who do not have prescription insurance. These cards save people 20-50% off the cost of prescriptions.
In May 2010, over 2,000 St. Joseph County residents utilized the discount prescription cards through United Way 2-1-1 and saved $32,378.20 in total on their prescriptions. The average dollar amount saved per prescription was $14.10, or 33%.
