United Way of St. Joseph County Funding Priorities

Basic Needs:

Food - Giving food to people in need

Shelter - Provide short-term shelter for youth (ages 0-24) and/or       those fleeing abusive situations.

Emergency Financial Assistance - Prevent negative outcomes including homelessness, unemployment; provide financial resources to acquire prescription medication.

 

Life Management

Financial Literacy - Individuals will acquire skills to achieve more financial stability in their lives.

Academic Literacy - Individuals will acquires skills to become successful in the workplace; children will be school-ready.

 

Stable Homes & Relationships

Conflict Resolution - Individuals will gain skills to problem solve and negotiate conflict without violence.

Domestic & Sexual Abuse - Individuals will develop and maintain stable and healthy relationships.

High Risk Health Behaviors - Individuals and families will accept responsibility to make good life choices to decrease vulnerability to obesity and avoid dangerous situations involving drugs, alcohol, and sexual activity.
